Each year, nearly five million Americans need a blood transfusion. To meet the needs of patients in the North Central Florida area, LifeSouth Community Blood Centers needs to collect 1,000 units of blood a week. That's over 140 donors a day.

Gators Bleed Orange and Blue (Gators Bleed) is a University of Florida (UF) & Santa Fe College (SFC) student organization committed to meeting the blood supply needs of Shands at UF and other area hospitals and making sure the blood is there when you or your family member is in need. With over 65,000 students at UF and SFC, these campuses play a vital role in making this happen.
Gators Bleed is UF & SFC's Blood Drive Advisory Council for LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, the local blood center. We are committed to increasing awareness of the importance of blood donations on UF & SFC campuses.
There are no substitutes for blood. Volunteering your time as a member of Gators Bleed or becoming a blood donor yourself gives the gift of life to patients who need transfusions. Please consider becoming a member of Gators Bleed and/or donating blood with LifeSouth.
Gators Bleed Orange and Blue is a registered organization with the University of Florida's Office of Student Activities and Involvement. Gators Bleed Orange and Blue is affiliated with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, though acts independently of LifeSouth.
